Autograph Bring in WT3 for Joseph

Bill Kenwright’s record-breaking production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s smash hit musical Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat has been using a Wavefront system for its redesigned 2003/4 national tour.

Chris Full of Autograph Sound has revamped the sound design for the production, which has been on the road since 1997, touring the regional theatres of the UK. For the new rig, he has chosen Martin Audio, specifically ten WT3’s and four WS2A subs, with analogue processing.

“The sound design for the tour of Joseph required a versatile, high power sound system that also fulfilled the budget requirements of the show. I had used the WT3’s and baby subs before, and liked the way the system sounded — particularly with respect to throwing the sound to the back of a venue. We are not touring delays as the turn-around between venues is very short.

“When it came to buying new cabinets, the WT3 system was my first choice,” continues Chris. “The high power handling of the Wavefront boxes gives me more than enough SPL in the room, along with plenty of headroom for a good transient response.”

Joseph has played to well over five million people in the UK, thanks to Kenwright’s original 12 year tour (1979-1991) and the current production, which has been running since 1997.
