Martin Audio’s entry to cinema surround sound was nothing short of revolutionary.

Traditionally sound systems for cinema screens were a 2-way design consisting of a twin fifteen low frequency section and a high frequency compression driver mounted on a large format horn. In this conventional 2-way design the transition between the two sections would be between 500-800Hz depending on the size of the high frequency horn.

Whilst the low section of this 2-way design was perfectly adequate the HF struggled to reproduce the wide dynamic range required for modern films.

The obvious solution was to split the high frequency band and replace the single large format compression driver with dedicated mid-range and high frequency drivers. By adapting their already world renowned 3-way technology the Martin Audio design team created a range of cabinets honed to meet the exacting demands of cinema sound well into the 21st century.
